Is Twitter just another social web trend, useful for those who spend far too much time on the internet?
Here’s an interesting story: “Commonwealth Bank all a-Twitter over mortgage approval tweet”. The Commonwealth Bank in Australia approved a loan, back-logged for months responding to negative comments by a client on Twitter. Public opinion on such a fast growing platform such as Twitter appears to be a good reason for some businesses to really take notice.
A Neilson poll for internet social media growth indexed Twitter’s growth at a 1,382% increase from the same time last year out ranking Facebook at 228%. Surprisingly too, the majority of Twitter users (Tweeters) are not teens and college students but aged between 35-49 (42 percent of the site’s audience), with the majority of Tweeters accessing the site from work.
